The PC and console market has long stood as the core of the gaming market, but the emergence and subsequent growth from mobile and social gaming has partly diminished this longstanding market position. Despite the continued growth in mobile gaming, the console and PC market is expected to hold over 60% of the market through 2020.

The current (8th) generation of consoles has established a solid foundation to build upon in the coming years.
